Not a main focus but, I thought it would be nice to have a few options in case we need to just relax on the trek. Usually I not a proponent for technology on the trail but, I have never had technology and the money to have it in the past. Since we all have it now I thought, what the hell. I am adding more and more music to our playlist for the trip every day and I already have a few books on my Kindle app as well as a few hard copies, but, I am now adding full blown movies to the new micro sd card. It really is amazing how awesome technology is, here is an updated playlist, book titles, and movie list.
Music: Vaseline, Flagpole Sitta, My Own Worst Enemy, Lump, Island in the Sun, Dare You to Run, Peaches, Plush, Trippin' on a Hole, 311, Dave Mathews, Mumford & Sons.
Books: Battle Cry, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, A Farewell to Arms, Operation Dard Heart, Full Black, The PathFinder System: Survivability for the Common Man
Movies: The Dark Knight, Man on a Ledge, Second Hand Lions, Fight Club, Youth in Revolt, Into the Wild, Hook, Sahara, The Fighter, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Men Who Stare at Goats, The Break Up, Transformers 3, Wedding Crashers
As you can see, a pretty varied list of movies, books, and music (look at previous posts for full music list). If you know any movies or music that is a must for the trip add your two cents, we appreciate it!
Are you seriously going to bring a stack of hollywood movies with you on your PCT/TRT? Not sure what to think about that. Next thing you know you will be strapping a satellite dish to your back to keep up with your soaps and hit reality show and an RV to go with. Hear me out for a second...isn't a trip like this about leaving all those distractions behind and immersing yourself in the natural simple beauty of the Sierra Nevadas.
ReplyDeleteI think you've got a great list that will keep you safe and relatively comfortable but this seems in excess. Just my take and certainly not my trip so I obviously have no real say, but if you and I were going on this trek and you you wanted to spoon and watch "The Break Up" I would throw your bloody smart phone in the first creek that we crossed without hesitation.
Is pretty crazy how you can literally bring every thing but the kitchen sink these day in a backpack.
DeleteI highly doubt you could resist spooning with me and watching "The Break Up" in our little 3X5 tent, second, I thought it was pretty cool that I could bring full blown movies on a trip with no extra weight. Satellite dish, shoot, I got one on my phone. Your funny man, I wanted to see what every one would say if I said I was bringing my collection of movies, naturally, you were the first to respond, hahahahah. You should know me better than that though, I would never bring movies on a trip like this. Funny, I just talked to Aaron and we were laughing about the whole movie thing. Just finished up the detail for the trip tonight and we are ready to roll.
ReplyDeleteSuper psyched for you guys. Will be thinking about you guys everyday while you're out there hoofing it arguably some of the most amazing trail
